This kayaking adventure in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is great for those looking to get out on California's waters, and will help you to create unforgettable memories. It is just off the coast of Moss Landing and the Monterey Bay Submarine Canyon, where the deep water trench winds its way from Moss Landing out to sea to a depth of two miles. The canyon walls create upwelling which brings nutrient rich waters to the surface and kicks off the whole food chain.
On calm mornings, the tour can paddle out of Moss Landing Harbor in search of Humpback Whales. Your family may encounter a number of species of whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals, sea otters, giant sunfish, crazy birds and fish! Throughout the season, you can see whales about half the time, but in the summer and fall they are there nearly every time. The tour includes an introductory lesson and even provides all kayaking equipment.
